Emergency Stop
When equipment malfunctions (such as a jam or overload) or personnel are in danger (such as limb entrapment), triggering an emergency switch immediately shuts off the equipment's power supply or control circuit, forcing the equipment to stop.
Alarm Triggering
Some emergency switches are linked to alarm systems. When triggered, they not only shut down the equipment but also sound audible and visual alarms (such as buzzers and warning lights) to alert nearby personnel and call for help.
Safety Interlock
In some hazardous areas (such as elevator shafts and high-voltage equipment rooms), emergency switches can be linked to protective doors. When the door is opened, it automatically shuts off the equipment's power supply, preventing personnel from accidentally entering the dangerous area.

Operational Ease
Simple triggering methods (press, pull, or step) require no specialized knowledge. Some switches are designed to be self-locking, maintaining the shutdown state after triggering and requiring manual reset to prevent accidental resumption of operation.
Reliability
Directly connected to the equipment's main control circuit or main power switch ensures the emergency switch remains operational even if other control systems fail. International safety certifications (such as IEC 60947-5-1 and UL 508) are required.
Incorrect Operation
Mushroom-head pushbuttons must protrude from the panel to prevent accidental contact. Some switches feature a protective cover that must be removed for operation, making them suitable for use in crowded areas.
