Primary Function
This component is a critical safety switch located within the braking system of a Schindler elevator or escalator. Its main role is to monitor and report the mechanical status of the brake (or brake shoes) in real-time. It is installed directly on the traction machine's brake mechanism.
Working Principle and Technology
The MP310SCE09 is essentially a Micro Switch. It is mechanically triggered by the movement of the brake mechanism. When the brake is released (open), the switch is actuated, sending an electrical signal to the elevator's control system to confirm the brake's status. Conversely, it signals when the brake is engaged (closed). It typically features a contact configuration of 1NO/1NC (one Normally Open and one Normally Closed contact) to provide accurate and redundant feedback to the safety and control circuits.
Safety Role
As a vital safety device, this switch ensures two key aspects of operation:
  • Before Start-up: The main control system will only permit the lift to start moving after receiving a signal that the brake has been completely released.
  • During Stopping: It confirms that the brake has been reliably engaged to prevent unintentional car movement (creep).
