The Otis elevator hall/landing door mechanical lock (core safety) FAA23400K5 is a hook lock (hook lock) for elevators. During elevator operation, a high-strength hook mechanically engages with the door frame lock box to prevent accidental opening of the landing door and eliminate the risk of falls into the shaft. Unlocking and opening are only permitted when the car is level with the landing door.

The electrical safety circuit interlock integrates safety contacts. When the hook is fully closed, the contacts are conductive, sending a "door locked" signal to the main control board, allowing the elevator to start. If the lock is not closed or the contacts are abnormal, the safety circuit is disconnected, preventing the elevator from moving and avoiding accidents caused by open doors.

Precise unlocking and door knife linkage: After the car is leveled, the car door knife inserts into the lock wheel, causing the hook to disengage and unlock, allowing the landing door to open.
